A solid Luxury Collection property in the heart of Midtown.

The London, a Luxury Collection Hotel, New York City Booking and Cost
We stayed four nights at The London, a Luxury Collection Hotel, New York City, at the end of April. I booked this stay just a few days before arrival on a rate we booked for clients through our travel advisory. This time it was a Marriott STARTS promotional offer where we could stay three nights or more and save 30%. In total we paid $1702 for four nights, including Marriott STARS perks.

We arrived at The London A Luxury Collection Hotel, New York City in the evening after our domestic flight from Chicago after reviewing SAS Business Class. Reading their reviews on Google, people's biggest complaints were the service, so I was curious how we'd be met upon arrival. To my surprise, given their reviews and the fact that we were in New York, the check-in staff couldn't have been lovelier. They listed out our benefits for booking through a travel advisor, including:
$100 property credit
free breakfast
early check-in and late check-out (subject to availability)
room upgrade (subject to availability)
One thing to know is that this hotel is predominantly a suite hotel since it was originally built to be residences. This means that, although not guaranteed, your odds of getting a suite upgrade here are about as good as it gets at any Marriott hotel. We were upgraded to a Central Park View one-bedroom suite. Keep in mind that I'm also a Marriott Titanium member, which probably helped.

The London, a Luxury Collection Hotel, New York City Park View Suite
Although this hotel markets itself as a luxury hotel, I'd say this is actually solidly four and a half stars. For example, don't expect to be led to your room here, and the hallways themselves are pretty standard hotel corridors, nothing fancy. That's not a problem, though.

Upon arriving in our room, I must say we were very pleasantly surprised. The one-bedroom Park View Suites are marketed as being 500 sq ft, and by New York standards, this room really is incredibly spacious.
Upon entering, we've got a small hallway with a little bench seat. Guess where we dumped all our stuff throughout the stay?

Then we have a spacious living room with a couch, a living room table, and a dining table with two chairs by the windows so you can enjoy the view.

You also got your mini bar out here, tucked above a Nespresso machine, and it's stocked generously with different kind of beverages.

If there are more than two of you staying, the couch can be turned into a sofa bed. For more privacy, you can also close the doors to the bedroom.
In this case, we got a room with one king bed, and I must say it's very comfortable and well appointed. The bed is soft, and the bedding is crunchy, just like I like it at hotels. We slept pretty much as well as you can sleep in New York, given that there are sirens and noises from outside around the clock that are audible even on the 30th, 40th, or 50th floor.

Below the bed to the right, we've also got a proper closet area with drawers, a robe, and plenty of hangers. This is a really nice addition to the room and gives you somewhere to leave your bags, hang your clothes, et cetera.

There's a TV in the corner of the room, slightly awkwardly placed on a stand rather than mounted.

Then to the left, we have got our bathroom. This is probably the nicest hotel bathroom design-wise that I've had in New York, all marble with a big walk-in shower.

The one thing missing is double sinks, but besides that, this is incredibly comfortable and clean. We've even got a bum gun by the toilet. If you'd like a bathtub or double sinks, you're going to need to book one of their most expensive suites, so that's something to be aware of. I really love the toiletries from Byredo, though.

We got a little welcome amenity of chocolates waiting for us, which was a nice touch. Still a far cry from the incredible amenity we got at one of our favorite hotels, the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, for example.

The London, a Luxury Collection Hotel, New York City Park View Suite Room View
Overall, this must be one of the best value-for-money rooms you can get in New York, considering that it's modern, clean, well maintained, and comfortable, with stunning views of the city, and the Central Park views in particular are hard to beat. Of course, it's not quite up to the level of the Mandarin Oriental New York, for example, but it also comes in at about half the price.

In terms of dining, your options are limited here, since there isn't exactly a variety of on-site restaurants. Personally, I wouldn't dream of eating any meal but breakfast at my hotel in New York, given how exciting the food scene is here, but even so you probably won't be eating many meals here.

When it comes to breakfast, though, I must say I was very impressed. The breakfast restaurant, Dabble, is modern and vibey with a proper bar in the middle. Upon request, the hotel had ordered vegan Beyond Sausage for us to eat with our avocado toast during the stay, and they even brought out vegan pancakes topped with berries. The avocado toast with the Beyond Sausage and this fruit plate were included every morning with our Marriott STARS rate for free, and we loved it.

In terms of other hotel facilities, there notably is no spa at this hotel. That's a bummer for some. Oskar and I mainly missed the spa because it also means there's no sauna, steam room, or cold plunge. However, the hotel does score well when it comes to wellness because it has one of the best-equipped gyms you'll find in this price point in New York.

There's also a little towel and water station tucked in, so you don't have to think about bringing your own. We were blown away by the selection of equipment, and you could definitely get a great workout in here.

Where Is The London, a Luxury Collection Hotel, New York City Located?
In terms of location, this hotel is squeezed right between Times Square and Central Park. It's a great location for a first-time visitor. Although, for me as a half New Yorker, I can't say it's my favorite. That said, just walk a few blocks and you're by Central Park South, Columbus Circle, or Fifth Avenue, depending on what you're looking for. In that sense, I can't fault the location.
Is The London, a Luxury Collection Hotel, New York City A Good Hotel?
Overall, The London A Luxury Collection Hotel, New York City, offers among the best value suites you'll find in the city. Don't go into your stay expecting the luxury of a Four Seasons or Mandarin Oriental, since the service and facilities won't quite match those names. Here you get loads of space with a modern and comfortable room, a fantastic gym, and great breakfast for a reasonable price, by New York standards at least.
